On September 18, 2020, SAP announced the final shutdown of the automatic downloads of SAP notices via RFC. In particular, it is about the releases from 7.00 to 7.31.
This mainly affects customers who are currently using the Solution Manager up to 7.2 and who use the SAP EarlyWatch Alert function. However, all other SAP OSSs that load via the RFC connection are also affected.
This announcement is effective as of November 30, 2020.
In addition to the announcement, SAP also provides solutions to solve this problem. Since, on the whole, only the communication to the service is changed, it is advisable to switch from RFC connections to encrypted HTTPS connections.
